Oh yeah, you and what army?

I like putting things into boxes.

The idea of women empowering themselves by becoming sexual objects is backward. It seemed brilliant at one point, but it had really bad ramifications. Things lose their context so quickly.

Kim Gordon (via tulletulle) (via jessicachu) (via oh-ew)

But more importantly, Kim Gordon, I’m so stoked you’re recording an LP with Thurston Moore and Yoko Ono!!! This is one of those rare instances when I’m not opposed to past-their-prime musical collaborations.

Edit: I used this quote in my Gender & Media class when we were talking about the commodification of riot grrl into girl power, and I thought this would be a good opportunity to shamelessly plug Marisa Meltzer’s new book, Girl Power: The Nineties Revolution in Music. SAD STUFF.
